New heavy duty hydraulic-folding flail mower ideal for all crop stubbles

At the Cereals Event this year, OPICO is showcasing Maschio’s widest and most robust flail mower: the Gemella. This is a heavy duty hydraulic-folding model, ideal for a wide range of situations from cutting grass to shredding branches and twigs. It is expected to be especially popular for chopping up (or mulching) maize stubbles to reduce the spread of fungal diseases, e.g. fusarium, eyespot, into following crops.

The Gemella is available with working widths of 4.65m and 6.20m. It folds down to a 2.4m width and has hydraulic safety locks to ensure easy safe transport. It is suitable for tractors of 120-260hp. It comes with hammer flails as standard, and will cut materials up to 12cm in diameter, or for thicker branches, fish tail flails can be fitted.

The Gemella’s floating head system gives three degrees of upward movement on each wing, ensuring cutting height remains even on undulating ground. A central deflector minimises the uncut area between the two flail units, and a lower counter blade mulches the discharged material into fine pieces. For cutting maize stubbles, the rear rollers can be replaced with pneumatic depth wheels.

As with all Maschioflail mowers, digitally balanced rotors reduce vibration and wear, and help ensure reliability.

The 4.65m wide Gemella costs £22,517+VAT, and the 6.20m wide model costs £24,352+VAT. Farmers and contractors interested in seeing a Gemella in action should contact OPICO on 01778 421111 for a demonstration.
